Searching for the best brunch Woodberry Down has to offer? Your hunt ends at Dear Diana. Set within a bright, contemporary space in one of North London's newest developments, our venue has quickly become the favourite brunch spot for locals and visitors alike. Moreover, we've crafted an experience that goes far beyond simply serving food on plates. Whether you're a weekend warrior seeking the perfect eggs Benedict or a midweek treat-yourself enthusiast, Dear Diana delivers. Here are five compelling reasons why discerning brunch lovers consistently choose us.
Every year it creeps up on someone. The team wants a Christmas do, the family wants everyone in one room, and by the time a date is agreed, the good venues are gone.
Whether you are organising a work party for 15 people or a festive get-together for friends and family, this guide covers when to book, what to look for in a venue and how to keep the whole thing stress free. It comes from the Dear Diana team in Woodberry Down, where we host private events all year round.
When should you book a Christmas party?
As early as you can, ideally by October or early November.
Demand in London is concentrated into just a few weeks. The Thursdays and Fridays in the first three weeks of December are always the first to go, followed by Saturdays. If you are reading this in November and still have no venue, do not panic, but do act quickly and be flexible on the day of the week.
A few ways to beat the rush:
- Go midweek. A Tuesday or Wednesday gives you far more choice of venue and often more attention from the team hosting you.
- Go early in the day. A festive brunch or lunch is easier to book than a Friday night.
- Go late. Lots of teams now hold their Christmas party in January, when everyone is less busy and diaries are clearer.
Daytime or evening?
Christmas parties do not have to mean late nights. More and more groups are choosing a daytime celebration, and it has real advantages.
A festive brunch or lunch works well if:
- your team includes parents or people with long commutes
- you want everyone to actually show up and enjoy it
- you prefer good food and conversation over loud music
An evening party works well if:
- you want the whole venue to yourselves
- you are planning speeches, music or entertainment
- the group wants a proper night out
At Dear Diana we can do both. During the day you can book the ground floor or mezzanine for a Christmas brunch. After the café closes, the whole venue can be hired exclusively for evening parties and dinners.
How to choose the right venue
Run every venue on your shortlist through these questions.
1. Does the capacity actually fit?
A room that is too big feels empty; one that is too small feels cramped. Know your realistic numbers (expect a few drop outs in December) and ask about seated and standing capacity separately.
2. Is it easy to get to?
Check the nearest station and the last trains home. Venues near a Tube line with late services make life easier for everyone.
3. Who handles the food?
In house catering is far simpler than bringing in a separate caterer. Ask what formats are available, such as a seated set menu, sharing plates or canapés.
4. Can they handle dietary requirements?
In any group of 20, expect a mix of vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and allergy needs. A good venue will plan around them without fuss.
5. What is included?
Ask about staffing, table styling, music and whether you can bring decorations or a cake.
6. Will you have the space to yourselves?
A private room or exclusive hire makes a huge difference to the atmosphere, especially for speeches or a Secret Santa.
Planning on a budget
Christmas parties do not need to be expensive to feel special.
- Agree a per head budget early and share it with the venue. They can shape the menu around it.
- Sharing platters served family style often go further than individual set courses.
- Daytime events usually cost less than prime Friday nights.
- Midweek and January dates often give you more flexibility.

Up to 30 seated on the mezzanine and 18 to 24 seated on the ground floor. For whole venue hire, get in touch and we will advise on capacity for your format.
Can you cater for vegan and gluten free guests?
Yes. Tell us about any dietary requirements when you enquire and we will plan the menu around them.
Is it too late to book in December?
Not always. We will always do our best to accommodate shorter notice, especially for midweek and daytime events.
