Cafes Near Me in North London: Why Locals Choose Dear Diana Cafe & Brunch
Take a break with coffee.

Searching for the best brunch Woodberry Down has to offer? Your hunt ends at Dear Diana. Set within a bright, contemporary space in one of North London's newest developments, our venue has quickly become the favourite brunch spot for locals and visitors alike. Moreover, we've crafted an experience that goes far beyond simply serving food on plates. Whether you're a weekend warrior seeking the perfect eggs Benedict or a midweek treat-yourself enthusiast, Dear Diana delivers. Here are five compelling reasons why discerning brunch lovers consistently choose us.

Some mornings you want a proper sit-down brunch. Some mornings you just want a flat white and ten quiet minutes before the day starts. We built Dear Diana for both.

We're at 149 Woodberry Grove, London N4, a short walk from Finsbury Park in one direction and Manor House in the other, right on the edge of Woodberry Down. If you've been searching for cafés near me and keep landing on the same three chains, we're the independent one a few streets over. Speciality coffee, all-day brunch, a Sunday roast people plan their weekend around, and no need to book.

Why locals choose us over the chain down the road

We get asked this a lot, usually by someone on their third or fourth visit. The short answer is that we're small enough to get the details right.

We know how our regulars take their coffee. We'll tell you straight if the kitchen is twenty minutes behind rather than let you sit and wonder. We source from local suppliers where we can, because we'd rather support the independents around us than shave a few pence off a delivery. And we've kept the room calm on purpose. No queue snaking past your table, nobody hovering to turn it over.

What people tell us "Beautiful coffee. Beautiful place." · "Brunch worth travelling for." · "Service with warmth and consistency."

We took over this space as Drury N4 and became Dear Diana in early 2026. The name changed and the brunch menu grew up. The coffee and the welcome didn't. You can read the full story behind the rebrand if you're curious.

Speciality coffee on Woodberry Grove

We pour Allpress espresso, and we pour it properly. A black coffee is £3.40, whether that's an espresso, an americano, a macchiato or an iced black. A white coffee is £3.70: cortado, flat white, latte, cappuccino or iced latte. Oat milk is 40p, decaf 30p.

If coffee isn't your thing, there's ceremonial matcha, spiced chai, mocha and hot chocolate at £4, or a pot of tea at £3.20 in English Breakfast, Earl Grey, green or fresh mint. When it's warm we go through a lot of homemade iced tea, brewed in house in peach and lemon. The cold-pressed juices (Root Revive, Vital Verde, Rise & Shine) do brisk trade with the Saturday flower market crowd, and there's a ginger shot if you need waking up more urgently.

All-day brunch, not just weekends

Brunch runs every day we're open, not only Saturday and Sunday. That's deliberate. A Tuesday deserves a decent breakfast too.

The dish people photograph most is our Signature Baklava Pancake: pistachio cream, crispy filo flakes, pistachio and maple. It's built to share, though we've watched plenty of people decide otherwise.

If you want the full works, the American Diner (£17.50) is pancakes with vanilla mascarpone and berry compote alongside streaky bacon, Cumberland sausage, two fried eggs, potato hash and maple syrup. The Salt Beef bun (£13) is thick-cut with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing, and it's our best seller among the buns. The Medi Bowl (£15.50) brings homemade green hummus, house salad, olives, grilled halloumi, a soft-boiled egg and pita, and it's the one most of our vegetarian regulars settle on.

For something lighter there's avo on sourdough (£11, vegan, add poached eggs for £3), a yoghurt bowl, or a Full English with a veggie version if you'd rather. Our Bennies are a steady weekend favourite: Eggs Benedict, Eggs Royale and the Crispy Chicken Benedict with sriracha hollandaise.

Dishes are marked V, VG, GF or N where they apply, and our team will confirm allergens for anything you're unsure about, so just ask. The whole brunch menu is online if you'd like a look before you walk over.

Sunday roast, supper clubs and weekend plans

Sundays we serve a proper roast from noon until 6pm: 32-day dry-aged beef prime rib, corn-fed chicken or a vegetarian Wellington, with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire puddings, horseradish cream and unlimited gravy. There's a roast platter for two and a kids' portion. It gets busy, and our Sunday roast guide has the full run-through.

We also run supper clubs and chef residencies through the year, and take private bookings for small groups. The Preamar residency was the most recent. And because we're licensed, with a mimosa, a prosecco, a lager or an espresso martini on the list, a Saturday brunch here can turn into a longer afternoon than planned. Not every café near you can say that.
